Mariachi Juvenil Estrella

Mariachi Juvenil Estrella is the top, performing ensemble for the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Mariachi Studies.  This elite group is a traditional sized mariachi ensemble made up of 13 students ranging from 8th to 12th grade.  All members of the ensemble must be current members of an existing school mariachi program, and are required to maintain a 2.0 GPA, as well as maintain good citizenship and regular school attendance.

  •  Group is audition based and by teacher recommendation
  • Rehearsals are once a week for 2.5 hours
  • Enrichment, study, and preparation of advanced/professional level concert repertoire as well as traditional standard mariachi repertoire
  • Opportunities to work with section specialists
  • Develop skills in teamwork and leadership as it relates to the student’s section and the entire ensemble
  • Attending mariachi conferences and competitions to develop friendships with musicians from around the nation and to be recognized, locally, regionally, and nationally
  • Role models for other students in their school mariachi programs and younger members of LVIAMS
  • 2+ years of participation in the ensemble automatically qualifies the student for the LVIAMS Christian Regalado Memorial Scholarship
